If you think that Singaporeans are really crazy about durians because we are willing to pay $30 for a Malaysian fruit then
you are wrong! The Thais are even crasier! They pay $200 for a Thai Nonthaburi "Kan Yao" durian! Who says Thai durian is inferior?

has about 30-odd species of durians. The most plentiful type is the Mon Thong. It can be had for a mere $10 to $15 each. But
prices for the Kan Yao, the most prized variety, especially those from the Nonthaburi province, next to Bangkok can be as
high as $200! Mon Thong flesh is so custardy that it sticks to the fingers. The taste is excessively sweet. Ten researchers
from Warsaw Agricultural University, in Poland, published what they claim is the first extensive study of the durian's health
benefits. They found that the Mon Thong was so high in antioxidants that they suggested it be included in diets to prevent
heart disease. By contrast, the flesh of the Kan Yao is firmer and the taste much more subtle.

下午 6时至晚上八时,才刚刚达到. 新鲜吗? How to choose a good durian?
Durian farmer says " Listen carefully as you tap them with a knife handle. "When you hear 'peng,
peng, peng,' they're not ready yet," she states. " 'Boop, boop, boop' and they're ripe."
| Leong Tee says: |

|
| "Belly Good!" |
Durian stalls are every where. Everybody also sells D24 durians! Every where they shouted "one
for 50 cents!" or "3 for $10!" Good and cheap! There are many durian stalls selling good durians too. Go shop around.
Leong Tee D666 only sells TOP GRADE durians. His clients are mostly
durian connoisseurs. They know the difference.
Do you want to pay $10 - $15 per kg for over-night fruit? D666 stall orders durians today and
sell them today. Sometimes, they bear the losses! All in the name of "Trust!". Leong Tee do get "played-out"
too. Sometimes, his quality durians were unintentionally 'SWITCHED" by new workers or dealers while on
the way down!
And unless upon request, if the top grade of any variety is not available, he does not just order
or sell for the sake of offering varieties.
Actually, the quality ones are very rare, usually from very old durian trees.
The farmers normally keep them for own consumption or for their own Royal customers - like the Sultans! So Leong
Tee has to pay higher price to get just a few baskets down to Singapore for his own special "Royal" clients.
He treated his clients like Royals. To Ah Tee his clients are Royal in Character,
Integrity and people with very fine and exceptional personality.
"Sometimes, they even pay us more than what we had asked for! They know what they are getting! We feel
so blessed. (We are not bragging here for business (ours is just a very small stall) but taking this opportunity to express
our sincere appreciation (which is much overdue) from the bottom of our hearts."
"Thank you Sirs and Madams if you happen to pop over here to browse the humble site - especially
to Inchik Chua, his family and the Indonesian VVIPs who often travel all way from Indonesia to eat at our little
stall ! We really feel so honoured."
What about your Singapore clients? "You know too that we cherish their patronage! Kamsiah!
Kamsiah! Over the years we have built very good friendship through sincerity, honesty and trust."
And to the "Ang Mohs" (Literarily means Foreigners wih red hairs or Europeans); thanks for sharing
with us your fun loving nature, humour and courage in delving into such pungent fruit. Your presence and the way you "devour" the
creamy fruits always make our durians so finger-licking good!

We cut our losses by selling the rejeted ones as pakage-products. This pakaged durians, more often
than not, are better than what many people had paid dearly at other stalls. Sometime we make, sometime we
loss lah! Do come and support! Do feel free to call me "Ah Tee". I "blanjah" coffee lah! "
The cost of first grade durian has gone up sharply!
Prices fluctuate daily! Prices reflected here may not be updated on time! Please go down to the stall
personally or call him to check first whether fresh durians have arrived!
D24 - Bitter Sweet, thick dry yellow flesh.
D666 - (Mao Shan Wan) Bitter Sweet, thick golden yellow flesh.
D1 - Sweet, Yellow/orange flesh, small seed
D101 - Sweet, orange red flesh, creamy
D8 - Sweet, fragrant, white flesh
His durians are really fresh! Direct from the durian farms as far away as Pahang!
Thats why his durian stall opens late - after 4pm. The durians will usually arrive around 6pm! (Sometimes they arrive
as late as 8pm) Wonder how he could tolerate such transport arrangement. How to do business so late and within so few
hours? His answer: "I want very good and fresh durians. Only they got! "
If you have other very good durian suppliers please help him and introduce them
to Leong Tee.
Owing to chemical changes within the pulp, durian must be eaten within 2 days of falling from
the tree! ! Within one day durian tastes most delicious and the flesh is warm and creamy but not wet!
Go to his small fruit shop at No 264 Tanjong Katong
Road (Corner of Boscome Road/Next to Chelsea Lodge) Singapaore 437051.

Below are some Wild Forest Durians for your information only. This type of durian fetched a lower price
than the more common fruit. The small-sized fruits, some about the size of a sepak takraw ball, are sold for as little as
RM2 to RM3 when they are in season - December to January.

Durian orchard owner Mohd Sofi Ibrahim,51, showing off three of his unique varieties of the
King of Fruits - (from left) the Alau, Anggunang and Tenom - in Jitra, Kedah recently. He grows 72 varieties of wild and prize-winning
durians at his orchard which is the size of three football fields.-Starpic by G.C. Tan
Most wild durians are tastless. If you want to grow sweet edible RED WILD DURIANS get the
seeds from Papar. According to Blogger Ms Terri Ng (Hungerhunger.blogspot.com) the three exotic colour wild fruits that
she had tasted were sweet - especially the Red one! She stays close to Taman Mesra.
And according to Kinabalu (Sabah) Blogger - Drizad, it costs RM$30 for 4 in
Sunday Tamu (market), Putatan. He only ate a piece of the Red durian and felt giddy the next morning. He had successfully
mailed the seeds to friends in Chian Mai (Thailand) and Florida.
